Before she could do just that, she heard Jerro
and Taltarian just outside the door.
Lorien started to grab the blanket and wrap it
around her, but the door creaked open and she
heard the two clearly now. They were arguing.
She dared not disturb the bed or any of the
sumptuous furnishings for fear that Taltarian
would notice. This had to be his bedroom.
She dived down alongside the bed and rolled
hard against it to keep from being seen when both
the king s chancellor and Jerro came into the
room. The door creaked shut, and Lorien held her
breath. If either came around the bed they would
see her.
Then she looked up at the ceiling above the bed
and almost cried out. A large mirror showed every
move on the bed and alongside it. She was
plainly visible if either of them chanced a look
upward. Lorien tried to slip under the bed, but
there was not enough room. Barely an inch of
clearance even Ploviss could not slither through
was all the space she had. Staying put, not moving
and praying that no one noticed her was her only
chance.
You have to find out! Jerro cried. You
promised. If I brought you the sorceress, you said

you would find what she s done with my entire
family.
Breaking the spirit of a witch of Sannea s
power is not easily done, Taltarian said glibly.
You know her power. You fell under it easily.
It was the Forbidden Woods, Jerro said
somewhat defensively. Lorien wondered if he had
felt the same as she had afterward. While the
morda pollen might have sparked their libidinous
lust, there had been something more driving them
on. Even after the last of the dust had left their
nostrils, she had felt the longing for his touch, the
heat of his body, the way he moved against her.
Lorien rubbed her legs together to no avail. She
was beginning to cream just thinking of the time
she had spent with Jerro.
So you say, Taltarian taunted him. She had
you under her spell. You will come to see how
extraordinary she is and how lucky you were to
dupe her into coming to the City.
She wanted to come, Jerro said. I have no
idea why, but she wanted to come.
Lorien wished she could see Taltarian s
expression. His voice was measured, but the
sharpness just underneath the words told the true
story.
Did she say what she intended to do here?
You know more of her plans than I ever could.
All I want is my family returned.

And you shall get it, you shall, promised
Taltarian. Lorien wondered of Jerro heard the lie
in those honeyed words. She certainly did. Her
heart went out to Jerro. He had brought her here
because he thought she was the sorceress who had
kidnapped his entire family. She wanted to
comfort him, then realized what it meant.
His family. His family might include a wife and
children. Were there little ponies prancing about
and was his wife a brood mare? Or were they as
human as Jerro, caught in a curse that altered their
shape when multiple moons of this alien world
rose?
I fear for their safety. It s been so long.
You have nothing to fear. This very afternoon I
take my your plea to King Arrin. When he
authorizes her interrogation, we will soon find
where your family has been imprisoned.
Why does the king have to approve?
He commands sorcerers more powerful than
Sannea, when they work in tandem. Only King
Arrin can order them to break her will and force
her to speak.
What am I going to do?
Stay here, my loyal friend. Rest. When the
king has sent his mages to interrogate, we will
learn all then. You will be the first one I tell. That
is your reward for such bravery.
There was nothing brave about it, Jerro said.

She wanted to come to the City.
What does the City of the Ancient Kings hold
that she can use? mused Taltarian. Then, more
businesslike, Wait. If you desire, I can send an
houri or two to keep you entertained. Once I learn
something of Sannea s plot, I can act effectively to
counter it.
I have no need for your whores, Jerro said.
Lorien smiled to herself.
Suit yourself, Taltarian said. The door
creaked open and shut, cutting off the
conversation. But Lorien felt the presence of only
Jerro now. And a powerful one it was for her.
She rubbed her legs together a little more as she
thought of how wrong he had been about her and
how she must correct it.
She stared directly up into the overhead mirror
as Jerro lay down on the bed. Their eyes met,
gazes reflected in the mirror.
Sannea! he cried.
Lorien rolled to her feet as he sat up in bed. The
expression on his face was one of pure hatred. She
could not bear to see him like this or what it
meant for her. He still thought she was a terrible
sorceress who held his family captives.
Jerro, don t, she said.
I ll make you talk. Taltarian has no idea how
to get information from you. Your magicks don t
frighten me. Where is my family? He swung his

long legs around to the floor. He was dressed in
form-fitting brown tights now that showed every
contour of his strong legs. A green tunic was
partially laced up the front, his broad, hairy chest
showing through the garment. He wore leather
boots similar to those Taltarian had worn calf-
high and polished to the sheen of mirrors.
She stood in front of him, naked and unable to
resist the strength she saw in those arms. His
determination to make her tell what she did not
know frightened her.
Then Lorien saw her chance. Rather than
pushing off the bed to his feet and coming for her,
he was caught up in ogling her nakedness. He had
seen her bare-ass before, but she still slowed him
down for a moment showing so much skin. This
gave her the chance to do the only thing she could.
She opened the box she clutched so hard and blew
a quick puff across the surface of the dust within.
The cloud of morda pollen spread rapidly. Jerro
sucked in his breath in surprise, and the
transformation on his face was immediate.
He went from looking at her as if she were a
monster to staring at a woman he wanted to fuck.
Lorien had succeeded in stopping him from
taking her prisoner again. But she had also inhaled
some of the pollen. Or had she? Just hearing
Jerro s soft voice and knowing he was in the same
room had excited her before the box had been

opened.
I want you, he said in a low voice that sent
shivers up her spine.
I want you, too, she said, putting the carved [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ] - zanotowane.pl
